Penang Trip

I’ve taken an unofficial hiatus longer than expected; unofficial in the sense that I’ve never intended to take a break at all. But life back home has been so fun-filled and exciting that I can hardly find the time to take a break from all the activities and update about my life thus far.

Although I didn’t make any travel plans for this summer break, the travel bug infected me once again and I jumped at the chance when Howe asked if I would like to visit Penang with him. Initially I felt quite awkward to go along since it was supposed to be a family trip for his family; but the warm hospitality I received from everyone there made me felt at home and I really enjoyed myself in Penang.

It’s always more fun to have locals showing you around; you get to eat good food which tourists normally don’t get to taste, visit attractions where tourists normally don’t get to see, and not look at the place from a tourist’s perspective. Although I did get to eat lots of delicious hawker food at the local markets — places I doubt I would visit on a guided tour — Penang’s weather was so hot that Howe and I opted to hibernate in the comfort of our air-conditioned hotel room for most afternoons, learning more about giant bird-eating tarantulas on the Discovery Channel instead of visiting more attractions.

Updates will be less frequent due to my busy schedule, but I’ll try to find time to arrange the photos taken during my recent trip to Kota Kinabalu and upload them as soon as possible. In the meantime, please feel free to browse through the photos from my Penang trip.
